New All Inclusive How To Write A Romance Novel Workshop Starting Soon

January Workshop Is Now Filled!
We Are Taking Sign Ups For the
May - July 2009 Workshop!

Though we launched the bvs-romance-writer-u site with individual courses to help authors in their pursuit of publication, what has become clear in the teaching of the workshops is that participants in the romance novel overview class are asking about many of the same things that participants in the creating tension class are asking about. Participants in the deep point of view class are talking about many of the same things that participants are talking about in the flawed characters and flashback workshops.

The division between workshops has served to keep class sizes small but has not aided authors in various workshops in sharing information and knowledge gained in one workshop with those in other workshops, meaning that the integration of knowledge between workshops is not as strong as it could be.

Given that, we have decided to return to the drawing board to produce a single workshop which will cover the whole process of developing and writing a romance novel. The workshop will take authors from the beginning of the process, providing them an understanding of the elements that make a romance novel, helping them to develop characters, conflict, backstory, internal and external conflicts and to integrate all of these things into their novel using deep point of view and other techniques to give the reader the best reading experience.

The workshop will cover all facets of writing a romance novel from beginning to end, with the last part of the workshop devoted to promotion and marketing of the romance novel.

The class will be structured to meet the needs of beginning to advanced participants.

The workshop will be offered free of charge and will be conducted by Black Velvet Seductions Editor Laurie Sanders.

The Promotion of the Romance Novel Workshop will remain a stand alone class for those authors who are already published and who only wish to cover the promotion and marketing aspects.

Some Thoughts On Rejection

BVS-romance-writer-u.com was built on the principle that the thing which separates the published from the unpublished is knowledge and skill, both of which can be learned.

At Black Velvet Seductions all manuscripts receive a personal letter from the editor considering them. In most cases the specific reasons for the rejection are outlined in the letter, which also includes specific recommendations for workshops sponsored and taught by Black Velvet Seductions staff which will help the author master the knowledge and skill necessary to turn the rejected manuscript into one that will be accepted upon revision and resubmission.

At Black Velvet Seductions we want to see authors succeed, and we've put our money where our mouth is in providing specific workshops to address the most common reasons for rejection at our particular company.
